My assignment was to extend Whole Foods Market’s 2026 brand campaign, Real Food Just Tastes Better, into the physical world through a mural at E 7th Street and Webberville Road in Austin, Texas. I approached the concept by highlighting the real people behind the brand’s commitment to quality, bringing a human perspective to the campaign’s message.
Since 1980, Whole Foods Market has upheld rigorous quality standards, banning over 500 ingredients commonly found in other stores and partnering with producers and suppliers who share its values. Behind every product on the shelves is a network of real people: farmers who cultivate the land, ranchers who steward their herds, fishermen who harvest responsibly, bakers who craft with care, and team members who bring it all together.
I developed the creative concept around these individuals and the care they bring to their craft, then hand-illustrated the mural to tell their story. Vibrant depictions of fresh ingredients, food makers, and the people behind the food come together in a bold, colorful expression of the Whole Foods Market brand. The result transforms a street-facing wall into a larger-than-life celebration of the people and practices that make its quality standards possible.
The food at Whole Foods Market isn't simply sourced; it's cultivated, grown, and stewarded by the hands of its farmers, suppliers, and team members. Real food is only possible through the care of real people—and that care is what makes it taste better.
