Ginger is an on-demand mental health support platform serving hundreds of thousands of members and corporate employees. They periodically release case studies highlighting how their services benefit employees at large organizations, including Pinterest and Buzzfeed.

For a partnership with Vox Media—whose employees were experiencing heightened stress and anxiety from the topics they reported on—Ginger asked that we create a full-page illustration for a case study that showcased the critical care and mental health support they provided. The illustration was meant to reflect the partnered brand through signature colors, elements, or visual motifs.

Inspired by Vox’s documentary-style video editing and their graphic, data-driven approach to explaining complex news topics, I designed an illustration with that same “infographic” energy. Combining hand-drawn illustrations with vector shapes, I created a collage of diverse media topics Vox has covered, from Susan B. Anthony to a Tyrannosaurus Rex, layered with their signature bright yellow brand color. The black-and-white spot illustrations and textures were hand-drawn in Procreate, the solid graphic shapes created in Illustrator, and the final composition assembled in Photoshop.
